6/20/2023 0 Comments Feature cam threadmill acmeHaving never annealed any metal in order to render it more easily machinable (especially in a harbor freight 9X20 minilathe), I put together a simple system to anneal the last 2.5 inches of the ball screw. So anyways, I had a flashback to a thermodynamics class involving a temperature gradent barrier( or something like that). Any way after 4 or five carbide tools, I finally anneled the end (2.5 inches) (it was do that or hunt down the dog and kick it for some past offence). What are you guys using to machine it? (certainly not a harbor freight minilathe)Īn hour task, and it dragged out for almost two days. When you read about someone machining a ball screw, it sounds so simple. Well, I machines the end of my ball screw today (and yesterday). Got to see a pic of your set up! Sounds like a winner to me.
